TV Sat 4 Jan 2020 "The Queen's Castle"
"Yesterday" channel (Freeview 25) tomorrow at 9pm until 10pm.
Takes us through a banquet being prepared at Windsor Castle for French president (as was) Chirac. 2004 I think so ages ago, but might be interesting to see how "old fashioned" it might look at the start of this 20s decade.

Not really my cup of tea, but I wonder if she has any real idea about what ordinary people eat.
Mind you we learnt recently that Andy goes to Pizza Express, so maybe she does...
That would make a wonderful prank video, Queenie turning up at Nandos.

I think I’ve seen that, interesting but more about the event than the food iirc
I remember having an argument with an Italian on the BBC board who insisted that one could not serve potatoes at a formal dinner, I found the menus for the State banquets online, invariably potatoes! The French ambassador has moaned that while he likes lamb, he wishes the British wouldn’t serve it at every formal dinner.
We know they have barbecues at Balmoral

I saw the prog about the chef and food on the royal yacht and recall there always had to be a sauce for everything. At least it wasn't jus

An interesting look behind the scenes, but yes, not much about the food.
It seemed unbelievable to me that the chef wasn't informed that there'd be a 20-30 minute delay to start of service until after food was already in the hot trolleys ready to go.
Also, seemingly a lot of last minute instructions to blank-faced plating staff and waiters for things you think they'd have practised almost daily for six months. Perhaps that's more the programme editing though.
It's been reported that many staff at Buck House earn only the minimum wage. I wonder how the Windsor support staff compare.
