Christmas cake recipe

Postby Binky » Mon Nov 04, 2019 2:09 pm

We bought the ingredients to make our cake this weekend but were overtaken by events, so we're doing it today.

We usually use the Be-Ro recipe, and once or twice tried a Delia recipe. However, I see that people are saying that the Felicity Cloake recipe is the best.

Does anyone have a view on how to make a Christmas cake?

Ha! Found you on here as well! I just found Felicity’s recipe lovely and un stodgy if you see what I mean. I always used either Delia’s or Katie Stewart’s before both of which are delicious as well. As I said ( on the other board if you see what I mean) soaking the fruit in whisky. made a lovely change.

I made Katie Stewart’s (from her version of the Times Cook Book) for years

Added bonus that if I bought a small bag of each dried fruit specified, the leftovers with the addition of some dates and extra liquid (family preference) made a half batch of her mincemeat, which is also good

Felicity’s recipes tend to work, she does test them thoroughly I think
