Foodie Drag Queen names
Today it's Pride here in Brighton - no point in trying to go anywhere - it's rammed ( 300.000 folks descending on the town). Sooooooo - I've done this before for a giggle - what would be your foodie drag queen moniker?

Re: Foodie Drag Queen names
Is that camp enough for you? That's me in the purple, in about 2006...
My predecessor was called Larry Lampwick, so I went by the name of Barry Lampwick and pretended I was his brother. Lucinda Lampwick? Laura Lampwick? Oh, that's not really foodie...

Remind me why we’re doing this? Not all gay people are drag queens you know.
My son, his partner, and his ex and his partner have tweeted some lovely photos from Brighton Pride, it’s not all about Drag Queens.
I’m very uncomfortable with this thread, sorry.

So are you suggesting we expunge the site from any mention of the LGBT community?
Or only talk about them in hushed reverential tones?
It depends whether you think this thread is taking the piss, which I didn't feel it was.

Pepper pig - it is just for a giggle - & certainly no insult at all intended - quite the contrary, I have had, & still do have, many, many gay friends...……….. so know that!!!
It does sound tho' like you do not know the community - believe it or not - not all drag queens are gay ( S hock Horror) but by the reverse most gays are not drag queens either).
There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of with a camp drag -queen, they are artists like any other entertainer & better than most.
I hope this allays your fears.
Re: Foodie Drag Queen names
In the Glam Rock world which I was involved with for quite a few years, it gave some LGBT people the opportunity to dress up in a way they normally wouldn't have felt comfortable doing, some gay, some heterosexual. In the motorcycle club I belonged to (run by the singer in that pic I posted) we had two transsexuals undergoing full male to female gender reassignment, who turned heads wherever they went, they were gorgeous. As a graphic designer for 35 years, it wasn't an issue whether your colleagues were gay or straight, you just were what you were - I have gay friends who are not in the slightest bit camp.
As for Pride in Brighton, I happened to be there one year during that weekend, dressing up for the occasion seemed to be very much a part of it.
Ask your son to check the thread, Pepper - if he feels it's disrespectful I'll consider closing it.

I don’t think we should make any assumptions about people’s experiences, understanding and attitudes
This started as a bit of fun, a giggle, inspired by Brighton Pride, which is very camp and pretty rich in drag queens and similar
Can we not leave it there?

Re: Foodie Drag Queen names
I agree , it’s very light hearted and there’s been no derogatory mention of anyone who’s LGBTQ and no assumption that anyone gay has to be a drag queen or vice verse .
