Favourite cocktails
In the restaurant section Joan was discussing cocktails and I wondered what everyone’s favourite cocktails were .
I think my ultimate cocktail would be a Mojito, heavy on the lime and mint . I could just fancy one right now actually .
Even though I don’t drink coffee , I do love just the one espresso martini. Goes down very well
Even though it’s quite trashy , I’ve had a lovely frozen strawberry daiquiri before

I don;t drink cocktails very often, but my favourite would be a Sea Breeze. Although I wouldn't say no to a Mojito or Mint Julep.

Re: Favourite cocktails
Not a cocktail fan myself. Even though mojitos are quite popular over here - I´ll stick to straight rum and a good Mezcal with orange and sal de gusano.

Margarita every time, although I did develop a taste for mojitos when visiting Cuba.

Re: Favourite cocktails
For me a classic Martini, I just love them. Otherwise it might well be a Margarita.

Depending where I am ..
A Mare (Menorca) brand Spanish Gin with Blue Fever Tree Tonic once in awhile or: Cava (Juve y Camps), Prosecco or Champagne.

Re: Favourite cocktails
My name is Stokey Sue, and I’m not an alcoholic, honest
But I love a good cocktail
Favourites would be
Mojito
Daiquiri Floridians
Planters Punch
Dark and Stormy
Classic Martini
Gin Fizz
White Lady
Margarita
Mint julep
Current favourite a Negroni (yeah, I know, fashion victim)
And I suppose a Pimm’s sort of counts
I bought a mini bottle of Cava because I want to try a couple of champagne cocktails, yes I know it’s not the same but I’m not convinced I’ll know the difference in a French 75, basically a brandy sour diluted with fizz

when crossing the Andean plateau by train, the last carriage was the 'capirainha' venue. It was a bit like the Orient Express with gas lights and linen table cloths.
We had lots of these S.American cocktails, we've not had them in the UK or elsewhere, but have fond memories of the train journey to Macchu Pichu.

First choice is always a Negroni....but only one! Next would be a margarita with a salted rim.
Our negronis tonight in the sunny garden, after a hard days work.

Never had a proper caipirinha but the pisco sours in Lima were rather good

What a beautiful picture patpoyntz!
I once had a Margarita in a Mexican restaurant in Vancouver. I suppose that it went well with the food.
I love Campari with soda or tonic with a slice of lemon, but I don't think that it is a cocktail.

Re: Favourite cocktails
I love a good cocktail. Sadly there are loads of places that offer poor examples, but we’ve found a few fab places here in Manchester.
I like strong cocktails, my favourite is an old fashioned. I’ve tried a few variations, which I’ve enjoyed too. A memorable one was at Duck & Waffle, where the waiter brought out a piece of wood, set it alight with a blowtorch, then extinguished the flames and put the glass over to fill with smoke
For a change, I also like gin cocktails with sharper fruit such as lemon or raspberry. I’m not a fan of sickly sweet drinks.
Beer is still my drink of choice though

Re: Favourite cocktails
last year we went to a brilliant talk/demo at the British Museum - which included 2 cocktails in the price. It was given by the cocktail barman from the Gilbert Scott bar next door at the Renaissance hotel next door. We ahppened to be staying there - perfect for hopping on to Eurostar.
The day after the talk we went into the bar and had a chat with him and I asked him what was his latest and most popular cocktail. He recommended a rhubarb Gimlet which was made, basically with rhubarb gin. It was quite the most wonderful thing I had tasted. I adore gin and I love rhubarb which is classed as an exotic fruit here.
We duly hopped on Eurostar a couple of days later with a bottle of rhubarb gin.

Re: Favourite cocktails
I like to stick with a good plain gin (Adnams Copper House or Tanqueray) and add my own flavours. Rhubarb was quite the 'in thing' last year, so I added a drop of rhubarb liqueur to my standard G&T and was immediately hooked.
