Re: Favourite cocktails
Tanqueray is my “house” gin - currently £21 at Sainsbury
But for a change I like Tanqueray 10, Handrick’s or my current favourite Martin Miller’s Westbourne (they do several, this is my favourite)
I made rhubarb gin following Jassy Davis’ method, she mixes the rhubarb and sugar and leaves it (I think 48 hours) until the juice draws before adding the spirit, I suspect this is a good way of handling fruits that carry the flavour in the juice rather than in the oil

this is unbelievable. Not only is he using a commercial mixer, but he's garnishing the drink with fried bacon and a cheeseburger

I’ve had some pretty outrageous bloody Mary’s in the US that come topped with all sorts of fried creations but I do like a nice thick slice of maple bacon , cheese and some olives as a garnish with the usual celery stick particularly at brunch. You can keep the burgers and chicken tenders though

No
I thought there was a BBC Board member called Otterspocket? Which I could have said rather more concisely

Re: Favourite cocktails
We have just tried Nigella’s Margarita Ice Cream, which I made yesterday, and it is really lovely....if you like margaritas, and you have the ingredients at home, I can really recommend it.
Re: Favourite cocktails
I've recently tried a relatively new gin from Bombay Sapphire - Star of Bombay - it's become my new favourite. It's based on their East gin, with the addition of bergamot and ambrette seed. It's also 47.5% alcohol content (East is 40%). It's lovey just as a G&T but I think it would be really good for cocktails too.

I have a nostalgic soft spot for Pina Colada.
And had one at Hemmingway's Bar on holiday a couple of years ago.
Just the one, I couldn't take any more alcohol in the heat hic!

I’ll look out for that Pampy, I had to Google ambrette as I’d never heard of it, turns out it’s Indian musk mallow which I had vaguely heard of

I wish!
One day we will get to America - I've never been. I take it you know Florida and Key West, Binky?
It was in Cadiz, or I think it was Cadiz. A cocktail bar, with a name we simply had to visit.
Otherwise, my experience of cocktails is just a long island iced tea really. I don't know why I liked them so much when I worked in the City.
So many places seemed to serve them.
But they weren't actually that remarkable.

Yes, we know Florida. Living in Michigan (which is cold) we always wanted some winter sun. It was a long drive but we covered most of the places of interest. Driving down through the Keys on that fantastic bridge is awesome. Finally, you arrive at Key West (where the limes are grown) and find your way to Ernest Hemingway's bar.
The actress who was in 'Witness' with Harrison Ford also has a bar and restaurant there. Nothing special.

I've been several times to Florida when staying with friends there. We did go down to Key West, with a visit to Ernest Hemingway's home. The garden has many interesting trees.

Re: Favourite cocktails
I know her name. Kelly McGillis.
People used to say I looked like her, when Top Gun was out. I was even asked for my autograph.
You've had some interesting times for sure, Binks.
I'd probably order a martini if I ever went there. Shaken not stirred.
