Lush - you're spot on - that sort of things can only be done at a certain life-stage. And I completely agree about thumbing - we used to do it a lot when we were younger (most notable occasion was when a friend and I decided to go to London after finishing our part-time jobs in a bar at midnight!). It's definitely not something that it would be safe to do now. I've never been back to Sardinia - am not sure if I would want to - I wouldn't want to spoil my wonderful memories. I kept in touch with my friend for a number of years but we eventually lost touch after I moved to London and then to The Netherlands.
Amy - true - I've loads of fantastic memories - and, of course, I learned to love red wine and espresso there!

I always wish I’d done something like that
Lovely memories Pampy
I went on an escorted walking holiday in Sardinia a few years ago, loved it, hence now planning something similar In Corsica
