Aren't you lucky having paw paw trees Wargarden!

A flavour that I really liked was coffee.

pistachio, without a doubt.

Easy to find abroad, not so easy in the UK.

I really like a dairy ice cream, one without vanilla.
Much lighter and fresher tasting.

Although when I was at Mum's last summer we went out for ice cream.
A local firm called Wallings does a delicious blackcurrant cheesecake flavour.

Kulfi ice cream.

Otherwise, it's just vanilla every time.

I do make my own, a have a very good machine but I don't do it as much since these folk set up there place not far away:http://www.glaces-scaramouche.com/en/

They haven't even the concept of a standard flavour! Even the top restaurants in the area have switched to using their ice creams and sorbets.

A current favourite of ours is fresh ginger and lemon.

I'm pretty sure I had a Durian ice lolly in Thailand in 1986, but I can't for the life of me remember what it tasted like. Durian, probably, although I didn't pluck up courage (or even have the opportunity) to taste "fresh" durian for another 10 years or so.

I've always thought that "Pawpaw" was another word for Papaya, but apparently it can mean either papaya (carica papaya) or a similar fruit native to the US and Canada (asimina triloba)**. I guess yours is the latter.

Not my favourite, but the weirdest I've ever made, posted before in my Burmese threads, avocado ice cream (with tamarind sorbet and coconut jelly).

Current favourite was a Ben & Jerry's peanut butter one, sadly discontinued. They did quite a few peanut butter variations, I think the one I liked had mini Reeses cups in it.

**Latin names and pawpaw information courtesy of Google/Wikipedia so not necessarily accurate.

Loseley Farm used to make an acacia honey and stem ginger ice cream which contained cream from their herd of Jersey cattle. My dad and I both loved it, although we were neither of us very keen on honey

I like vanilla ice cream where you can really taste the vanilla, it’s a definite flavour not a background

I also like a good lemon flavour ice cream, you get them in Italy and in London at Marine Ices in Chalk Farm

I used to make a lovely ice cream flavoured with a purée of Hunza apricots, the shrivelled looking dried wild apricots which have an intense flavour but they come from Kashmir and Afghanistan so are currently hard to find

Being cow milk lactose intolerant, I go to:

Roca MBOLESC
All Created By: *** Michelin Starred Dessert Designer Jordi Roca

They are located at:

Barcelona: La Rambla 51
Girona: Close to the El Celler de Can Roca *** Michelin Restaurant
Madrid: El Corte Inglés Department Store, Club Gourmet - Serrano ( Calle Serrano )
Alicante: El Corte Inglés

The designer sorbets I have are: ( prepared with lactose free dairy products )

Genovese Basil with Orange Azahar Flower Water ( my preferred, not sweet and lovely aromas )

Bergamot ( delighting )

Horchata ( Tiger Nut, an indigenious Valencian Tuber Nut ) with Nugget (Turrón ) ( I always have a teaspoon or 2 and my dear finishes the rest, as I
find it too sweet )

Have a lovely weekend.

my favourite non-standard ice cream flavour would be hazelnut, especially if it's in one of the Ask chain of restaurants!

Ooh yes that’s good

I eat coconut in many guises, but adding both dairy and sugar to make an ice cream is my idea of hell

I had gorgonzola ice cream in Mexico last year.
There´s an Ice-cream shop in Mérida, Venezuela, called " La Coromoto", which sells over 800 varieties. Anchovy, pulled beef and black beans, fried fish ice cream, cheese and tomato - and probably deep-fried baked bean, although I´ve never really tried it.

Karakoolaide,

Savoury icecreams are quite popular in Spain.

I am sure the Gorgonzola icecream was quite good ! :thumbsup

I had Olive Oil Icecream prepared with lactose free cow milk and a goat cheese icecream,
which was a true jewel ! however, to be honest, I normally do not eat any icecream
or yogurt of any type due to my cow milk intolerance.

I find the Torino, Piedmont Italian Gelato to be more soothing
as the preparation is different. However, it is something
that I must be on guard with the type of milk it is prepared with and so I tend to avoid it ..

Have a lovely weekend.

How non standard are we talking....

When dad was alive his two ice cream shop favs were rum raisin and butter pecan. No supermarket stuff here. Intact the shop is still there after 40 years

Had goats milk ice cream on a whim.......http://laloos.com/

Double chocolate and strawberry on a whim. Very rich and smooth. $ 6.99 or £5.55 for a 16 fluid ounce pint. Was very good but for an occasional treatz

no no no!
thunder and lightening (and in ice cream form by langage farm) is golden syrup (sometimes treacle) and clotted cream - a well known cornish delicacy, spread thickly on bread.

My friend made me a sticky toffee icecream once.

Hes a fantastic cook and he asked me for my favourite dessert (Sticky toffee pudd) and he made that icecream with a vanilla slice, so in essence switched the flavours around.

Hes a very clever sausage.
