since chicken Maryland was one of many dishes that helped Wallis Simpson ensnare KING Edward VIII.
I recall reading somewhere ( it may have been Private Eye) that Mrs Simpson used it to tickle his fancy.

i also have wallis Simpsons book the recipe in newspaper matches her book " favorite southern recipes" though her gravy is none traditional.

Bet she didn't cook it herself. When she was in the Bahamas she was renown for the number of flunkies she had round her. We had a very good friend whose mother was a servant at Government House

Amyw from what I read that movie was very accurate on the details at insistence of Queen. though it had to condensed because movie run times. there also used to be museum in Baltimore dedicated to wallis simpson,

Amy it is a wonderful film.Funnily enoughour 16year old GS asked to watch it with us this week and was very very interested.He said learning of our memories of the King and the royal family made it more interesting. Then he is, of course, a very well brought up young man

I had heard about Wallis & her meticulous study of The Shanghai Grip - amongst other accomplishments in the same dept. apparently……. much controversy on her sexuality at the time too - in both camps...…….
Jackie Kennedy did something similar & had 'lessons' in various arts before she married Onassis who had a voracious appetite in.... ahem…..certain sectors.....

Colin Firth is one of Britain’s best actors in my opinion and I always shed a tear at the end . One of my favourite British films and very family friendly

Amy, there is a vascular surgeon locally who is an absolute dead ringer for Colin Firth - everyone calls him Colin, even tho' he's a Mike - certainly he's one not to put your big knickers on for if you have an appointment with him...…..
