since chicken Maryland was one of many dishes that helped Wallis Simpson ensnare KING Edward VIII.

I recall reading somewhere ( it may have been Private Eye) that Mrs Simpson used it to tickle his fancy.

I´m not sure I´d confide in an Australian report, Worgarten.
After all, we´ve just defeated them in the World Cup.
Plus it´s gravy with everything over there!

Bet she didn't cook it herself. When she was in the Bahamas she was renown for the number of flunkies she had round her. We had a very good friend whose mother was a servant at Government House

i think the obsession was there before she ordered the cook to fry him a bit of chicken.
not sure edward the v3 had much taste in anything.
didn't she go from his deathbed straight to another man?

That was the ‘polite’ way of describing her influence over him ... it was well known in certain circles that she had him at her beck and call due to her mastery of a technique called ‘the Shanghai Grip’
.., please, if you’re of a delicate disposition do not Google it  ;)

It’s nothing to do with cooking.

I had heard about Wallis & her meticulous study of The Shanghai Grip - amongst other accomplishments in the same dept. apparently……. ;) much controversy on her sexuality at the time too - in both camps...…….

Jackie Kennedy did something similar & had 'lessons' in various arts before she married Onassis who had a voracious appetite in.... ahem…..certain sectors..... :D

I know nothing...……………..

Colin Firth is one of Britain’s best actors in my opinion and I always shed a tear at the end . One of my favourite British films and very family friendly

Amy, there is a vascular surgeon locally who is an absolute dead ringer for Colin Firth - everyone calls him Colin, even tho' he's a Mike - certainly he's one not to put your big knickers on for if you have an appointment with him...…..

back to chicken maryland
one of the old controversies about chicken Maryland is if fried pork belly or bacon is the bests meat to top
chicken with. Another is if the chicken should fried in bacon fat, vegetable shorting or lard.
