Re: Happy Birthday!
Oh that made me laugh Smitch! I did learn once that rats are continually urinating, as I discovered when my friend's son's rat came to stay with me for a couple of weeks whilst they were away. Luckily I had been wearing an old t-shirt and we were due to have carpets changed. Apart from that I loved having him!
Re: Happy Birthday!
Renee, they were scent marking you as their own It isn’t quite the same as their normal urine. I have a couple who do it, but they’ve got better since we adopted more and have a large group.
Rats are great, it is such a shame they have a bad reputation. My husband really wasn’t keen when I got my first pair but try soon won him round. They’re so loving and affectionate and just love life

Oh I see!
Yes, I enjoyed having him stay with me! They are really nice friendly animals.

Re: Happy Birthday!
New avatar Gill, lot of skill in that
Thanks Dennis. An old quick painting I made for a run of postcards. And it comes out sometimes to illustrate ellipses to class students, and to stop them drawing and painting corners on round jugs and jars.
Re: Happy Birthday!
One of the first things my father taught me.
He held a mug and tilted it to show me the effect!
Your jar is lovely!

Re: Happy Birthday!
Where has the time gone??
I barely remember the been board. Had a pen pal at that time, she told me about it. As I recall there was some goofing on john the toad and Greg the pastor. Said to myself I gotta check this out. Was glad I did.
A name I remember was Allison wright, as she posted info on TV shows. I tried to help out as I could. This was either just before or in the very early days of file sharing and downloading. Vpn''s may have been starting out too.
I tried to pick up the ball as best as I could but those were big shoes to fill.
What a great anniversary and here is to many more

Re: Happy Birthday!
I have never met anyone in real life, on this board, the Beeb or Wildfood.
Must rectify.

The edit function appears to have disappeared
I remember AlisonWright, in fact something just made me think of her just an hour ago
Gregg aka Eggy aka Toad was originally on radio here, on a show called Veg Talk with Charlie Hicks. He spoke very well about Charlie on his recent obituary show.
WWordworth, organising meet ups can feel a bit like herding cats but they do eventually happen and it would be great to meet you

I think you get 2hrs to amend typos. One usually spots them within 30secs of pressing the submit button.
I changed it when there was a long conversation about a mistaken ingredient, and the original poster went in and edited their post.
There was then a long conversation about "I cannot see anything wrong".

Yes, we shall have to rectify that situation. I have met loads of people here. And sometimes have a mini meet with one person or 2
Not often enough.
Even Andrew Googlemeister flew from Canada and made it here to have a stop off on his way to Cornwall.
Mark, are you ever in the UK?

Re: Happy Birthday!
I was on the BBC board for a long time under another name, but as here, didn't post very often. Also another board, through which I did meet up a couple of times with other members, one of whom is also on here (Hi PP!), and met with someone from Wildfood, though I don't post there. It's good to put faces to names!
Like Renee, I remember the spats there were on a US board at one stage, but can't recall its name.

Re: Happy Birthday!
Linnet, the US board was Recipe Quest. Jacqui Tezyk ran the board, but after she sadly died the board kept going for a while. I would love to know what name you used on Recipe Quest, also the BBC board.
Colin and I had the very happy experience of meeting Uschi in Venlo a few years ago, but I have known her for a long time.

Thanks, Renee, couldn't remember the name. But I remember when Jacqui died. Didn't post on it, just lurked!
I was Mrs T on the Beeb board - and still am in real life - but changed it when I came here because of all the comments at the time! Perhaps I should just have changed it to Lady T to match!!

Re: Happy Birthday!
Yes, of course you should have, but Linnet is a very nice name. I really liked a lot of the members of Recipe Quest.
