I think I would buy them too. Luckily we have an Italian deli fairly near us (the next town to where we live). I know they sell both them and cannoli. Some things are best left to the experts! When I saw them being made on The Great British Bake Off a couple of years ago, I thought 'nope, not making them'.

Heavens, kk, that video makes it look even more complicated than the one I found! I think I need a lie down after watching it.

Is there something wrong with me then?
I actually feel like I can make them after looking at both your links.

Nope, nothing wrong with you. Q: Would you make them twice? Perhaps let us know if patient enough to make them a first time.

I wouldn't think it cheating to buy them though if possible and would happily bow down to another's patience, and skill of course.

Gill,

If you could order the exact Italian flour required (Brand in Video or similar from Napolé ) and
the Italian ingredients as in the authentic récipe,
then, give it a go if you have the time.

Or look for 2 low cost flights to Naples, for a long weekend
& do a taste testing there & enjoy :

1) Pasticceria Tizzano - pastries ( Sfogliatella + at least 300 others )
2) Gran Caffé Gambrinus - Café
3) Mercato Di Porta Nolana - Sfoglie di Melanzane, an aubergine Sfolglie ..
4) Scaturchio - Ministeriale Pastry: Chocolate, Ricotta, Creamed Liquor and Fruits.

Good luck. :wave

No, Gill, as Jeral says - you’ve probably got more patience than the rest of us!

Right u r.
On my radar. Actually I have a friend I'm due a visit, and we usually engage in various baking projects when we get together.
She will love this.
