Freezer clear out
Any ideas on how to keep frozen fruit like berries for longer? Theoretically, I should be able to cook them, probably adding sugar (or not), so they could then be refrozen?
Prompted by a recent post on here.
I'm terrible for doing "last in, first out" of the freezer, especially when the weather is dark and gloomy so sensible brain is asleep.

Re: Freezer clear out
I'm going through the process at the moment. I tend to make jam with leftover fruit. Yesterday I liberated a bag of damsons and made 7 jars of damson & apple. There is a bag of blackcurrants that will (hopefully) become cassis and some goosegogs destined for an Indian pickle.
Other than that, I often cook fruit and return it to the freezer as compote. If berries it will probably have been sieved and sweetened. If I'm really organised, portioned and labelled(!)

I'd have no problem cooking them, then refreezing them. I like a homemade fruit compote , which I normally have with yoghurt, or on top of porridge. Could be used for a multitude of desserts too

Or a pie.
Any fruit in my freezer goes to make pies.
