Cannoli shells
Was intrigued by the blue cheese cannoli from sat. Kitchen. I bought that the shells were a bit sweet. Has anyone seen savory shells in the stores. Would be a this me saver.
Thank you
I had no luck with on line search.

Re: Cannoli shells
Mark, Good Evening,
There are gluten free but I have not seen sugar free ones.
My paternal Grandmother is Italian and she prepares her own Cannolli shells with Cannolli tubes. The basic recipe, would be to leave out the sugar if you prefer a sugar free Pastry Shell.
All Purpose Flour
salt
2 egg yolks
cinammon
butter
Dry Marsala verses Sweet Marsala Wine from Sicily
To obtain the Shape: The 5 inch circular dough " flat pancake shaped" discs of dough fit around the tubes ..
And of course they need to be fried and drained on paper towelling and when cool, stuff with a Savory filling or a sweet Ricotta traditional filling.
Good luck,
Have a nice evening.

Re: Cannoli shells
Michel Roux made his own unsweetened shells
The recipe is here but not sure if it is accessible from outside the UK

Cannoli have never been particularly popular in London but I kept hearing of them in US films and TV, Cagney and Lacey always seemed to be eating them. Finally had some in Sicily, was rather disappointed
