Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
Last night was a quick dish of tinned tomatoes, tinned chickpeas, fried cubes of paneer and various spices.
Served with rice and chapatis.
Invited to a pal's house for drinks and nibbles in the garden, so no idea what we will have.
I will leave the cheese out of the fridge in case we are still hungry when we get home.

I am stuffed I had another go at the pad Thai from Baan, this time it seems to have mad a lot, despite leaving out the tofu and not having quite the recommended amount of noodles
But I did have lots of home grown bean sprouts

Well, we went for socially distanced drinks at 6pm and got home at midnight!
Everything is a little frilly round the edges today, therefore comfort food is needed.
Breakfast was porridge with golden syrup.
Lunch will be BLT
Dinner will be a beautiful piece of cod with HM tartare sauce.
Need to decide if the accompaniments will be veg or salad.
Oh good, coffee.
Must make the effort to go for a walk.

I think after a six hour socially distanced drink , my choice of accompaniment would be chips and plenty of them

Actually, chips sound good....
Although we were at pal's house for a long time, we sat at separate tables in her garden and behaved ourselves!

Gorgeous food pics
In the last few days we’ve had rib eye steaks with cavolo nero from sils allotment, with new potatoes and garlic parsley butter.
Thai seabass with sesame chilli greens and jasmine rice.
Spaghetti and meatballs tonight with lots of veg blitzed to create the base of the sauce. Dessert will be some cherries and squares of dark chocolate.

I love the sound of the Thai Sea Bass. Do you just coat it in a Thai paste?

Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
Hi Renee,
I made a paste of garlic, chilli, ginger, lemon grass, coriander stalk, pinch of palm sugar and dried lime leaves. I then added a drizzle of sesame oil and soy sauce to the paste and smeared it on the flesh side of the fish and left it for about half an hour. We pan fried the bass skin side down (flipped for the last minute) and finished the dish with a squeeze of lime juice and fresh coriander. I hope I haven’t forgotten an ingredient! It was a make it up as we go along job

I made a chilli. No coffee included....
Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
Had some black eyed beans to use up so made "Beany Shepherd's Pie" from the Rose Elliot Bean Book.
I also had half an aubergine left, so I added a layer of that in the middle, ovened it and it turned out better than when I made the moussaka a few weeks back. Very nice, although very heavy!
P.S. I've made this before, so no surprises.

I just don't currently enjoy food, except forvthe Big Mac I had last night.
It's so annoying, I constantly feel vaguely nauseous.
I do enjoy reading about other's food though, it all looks great.

,
What a treat, Stokey. Love haggis.
Prawns were a silly price .... had to. So it was Gambas Pil Pil. Huge favourite. Used this recipe. Perfect. No tweaks needed except that I use a cast iron frying pan.

Thank you so much for all that information! Using fresh ingredients to make the paste is so much better. I really must make the effort again and you have inspired me!

if it's any consolation, Magic, you are not alone. I'm just coming out the other side of an episode.
Ah well.
What a super prawn dish, Zero.
I had prawns 4 times last week
My freezer is emptying really nicely.

Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
My fridge is due for a good clean out. I think it will be today, especially as it´s not working properly.
I found some lovely red peppers in the market yesterday. They looked to me like piquillo peppers, so I thought I´d stuff them with ricotta & spinach. For some reason or another, I decided to grill the peppers to remove the skins, rather than just poaching them.
Big mistake; there´s not enough flesh on them , so I ended up with roasted pepper strips.
Plan B. Put some lasagna to cook; grilled some aubergine slices with garlic, and made a veggie lasagna .
