Everyone’s food sounds great. EM there’s nothing wrong with fishfingers! I bought some today for that Nigella dish...or for with wedges and beans

Last night we had Lancashire hotpot with braised red cabbage and greens. We made lots of the cabbage so a big tub has gone in the freezer for Christmas day. Will make Jamie’s make ahead gravy in the next week too.

We took bacon sandwiches and flasks of tea up on a walk to the hills at the top of our village this morning.

Dinner was beef bulgogi bowls...absolutely delicious.

Jamie's made ahead gravy is excellent, added to the pan juices.

I've found an excellent butcher quite close to where I live. All his chicken is freerange. I was pleased to see that he had chicken supremes, so I bought three and put two in the freezer. I roasted one with a marsala and mushroom sauce.

Lunch was salmon pasta with braised red pepper, and a marinated beetroot salad (balsamic, honey, soy, olive oil and lemon juice) with sprouted lentils and lettuce.

That beetroot salad sounds lovely . Do you roast or steam your beetrootb

Neither. I boiled them, skin on.
I like to roast the small ones, but these were too big. I´ll probably make soup with the rest.
The marinade was just thrown together until I was happy with the flavours.

We had butter chicken curry last night with rice, naan and garlic, coriander and almond green beans.

Slow roast tomatoes with parmesan and thyme on toasted sourdough for lunch. With some rocket and balsamic vinegar.

Dinner was lamb cutlets with roasted red onions, rosemary, dauphinois, tender stem broccoli and red wine sauce/jus and a glass of red.

It was delicious! The veg took a bit longer, I think he said, and the cashews really never got golden, not even with longer in the oven. I think it would be better to toast the cashews separately and then add them for the last 4 or 5 minutes.

But overall, a success. We get the sea bass as part of the Waitrose 3 for £10.00, which is a very good saving.

That does sound good . I had sea bass on Monday with spiced sweet potato chips , tender stem broccoli with a little pesto . Lidls are doing two decent sized fillets for £2.49 at the minute . I think sea bass is probably my favourite fish .

Disappointing dinner tonight . I got a stirfry deal from Tesco’s , one of those where you get the sauce noodles and veg for a certain price . I bought the teriyaki sauce but it just tasted like sugar really . I’ll use up leftovers for lunch tomorrow but shame I was really looking forward to it

I added a sliced large red (fruity) chilli

What a shame Amy.

The sea bass with cashews sounds nice. It reminds me of a really heavenly dish I had at a restaurant in Australia - Barramundi with a Macadamia crust. Macadamias are so expensive here I have always felt it would be a bit extravagant for a fish crust but it was so delicious! Any of our usual white fishes would work. I think it's quite commonplace there as there are loads of recipes online, some with interesting fruit sauces.

I had an assorted veg stir fry with a peanut butter sauce, noodles and prawns tonight.

Macadamias are slightly less expensive at Asda. I get them occasionally to add to blondies.

You turn right as though you were going to Morrisons supermarket on Station Road, Bamber Bridge. The road bears round to the right and there are five shops, including the butcher, which have only been there for five years. A lucky find!
