Re: different types of milk/ drink
Our carton of milk tends to be a pound, Jeral.
Any more, I get a bit twitchy.

Yes, winter fuel bills put a huge damper on spending unnecessarily. Roll on summer
Was someone asking about hemp seeds? If so, just spotted these by Braham & Murray on Sainsbury's website:
https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/gr ... earts-225g
The cost is, er, interesting, being "Only £300; Save £100". Not bad for half a pound...

Re: different types of milk/ drink
I read that as £3 and £1 (3.00 and 1.00)
Unit price is £1.34 per 100g
Used to use them as bait for fishing - the plants grew all along the canal

Re: different types of milk/ drink
It was me.
As I considered buying some and making up my own Hemp drink/milk. My smoothie blender is so powerful.
It might very well taste like fishfood, Sue.

Re: different types of milk/ drink
O-oh, something fishy about my post then. It must be a first for me actually wanting to see dots before my eyes, lol, so ta for correcting Stokey Sue.
What blender do you have Gillthepainter? Coincidentally, I've been looking at some "Nutri" ones at £100 that seemingly cope best with nuts and seeds. I suppose you just have to say "It's only £2 per week" and be happy - as long as it performs as expected.

Re: different types of milk/ drink
By the way, I mentioned that some items were EU "authorised exceptions" in labelling so could be called milk or cream even if not. I've found the list (at last) if anyone's interested:
Quote:
EN (being ones specifically English/UK)
• Coconut milk
• ‘Cream …’ or ‘Milk …
used in the description of a spirituous beverage not containing milk or other milk products or milk or milk product imitations (for example, cream sherry, milk sherry)
• Cream soda
• Cream filled biscuits (for example, custard cream, bourbon cream, raspberry cream biscuits, strawberry cream, etc.)
• Cream filled sweets or chocolates (for example, peppermint cream, raspberry cream, crème egg)
• Cream crackers
• Salad cream
• Creamed coconut and other similar fruit, nut and vegetable products where the term ‘creamed’ describes the characteristic texture of the product
• Cream of tartar
• Cream or creamed soups (for example, cream of tomato soup, cream of celery, cream of chicken, etc.)
• Horseradish cream
• Ice-cream
• Jelly cream
• Table cream
• Cocoa butter
• Shea butter
• Nut butters (for example, peanut butter)
• Butter beans
• Butter puffs
• Fruit cheese (for example, lemon cheese, Damson cheese)

Re: different types of milk/ drink
Jeral, I don't have a nutribullet, but I've seen it cope with solids and ice cubes, no trouble.
For 16 quid ea, I've got 2 smoothie makers, 1 for studio, 1 for home, that power through LIQUID, and grains or oats.
2 presses, bzzzz, bzzzzz. 500ml puree.
I regularly puree fruit milk, or fruit yoghurt, which I then pour over my oats and seeds for breakfast.
I also have a compact Bosch processor. As it's compact, it takes up the room of a kettle.
The juicer is particularly fantastic.
The liquidizer is standard. And works well for hot and cold blending.
Not as smooth as the little smoothie maker tho.

If you start a thread, people will probably give you advice about more options, Jeral.
I'll take a video for you of the Wahl smoothie maker .......

Re: different types of milk/ drink
Thanks very much Gillthepainter. I've ordered a Wahl immediately as no reason not to at that price. I have a big processor, small twin-blade grinder and a hand blender that can do the heavy work (e.g. nuts) if the Wahl doesn't like them, although it says it does ice so that's a bonus, as is its small footprint.
Yay happy bunny.

Brilliant.
I did a video for you, but cannot find it on Windose File Explorer. It's something obvious. I can see all my image files, but no vid files.
I'll try and figure it out - I'm guessing I need to use a proper transfer cable to get it off the camera.

Re: different types of milk/ drink
I'd love to see the video Gillthepainter but hate putting you to the trouble since hopefully you won't mind questions if any once mine arrives in a day or three.
My biggest fear TBH is that the impatient one here will burn the motor out instantly by not doing short 1-minute burst, wait, repeat, which all high-speed mixers and even work tools demand. We shall see, whether I can train him that is

Re: different types of milk/ drink
Gillthepainter, many thanks both for the taking and posting of the vids
I'm amazed at the speed!
I'm looking forward to minimal washing up too
Re lost files, I feel your pain as I could find things easily on Windows 7 and find it a nightmare since changing to Windows 10. It definitely takes longer to find them than the smoothie maker takes to smoothify.

Re: different types of milk/ drink
in the video, I pulsed 4 times, but didn't need to.
I'm pleased it's so clear, as one handed kitchen work is tricky.
As per, I don't know what on earth I do with the 4 x little storage jars it comes with. I have 8.
But can only find 2 in my cupboards this morning.
I'm sure you know but just to emphasise, it's a liquid/ fruit seed and nut device.
So doesn't do dry or solids.

Having broken both wrists, I'm fairly adept at doing things one-handed although how you did your vids without camera shake is beyond me.
I have the small twin-blade chopper processor and big processor I mentioned for dry stuff, so no worries. The Wahl arrived today, as yet unopened but am intending to christen it very late tonight with unchallenging tinned toms (watered down) and hopefully unchallenging celery slices for a Bloody Mary for breakfast, after a late night you understand

Re: different types of milk/ drink
I take it you've got very weak wrists, now.
Like my friend, but hers are from hoiking large pots for years in her pub kitchen.
By the way, do not if you can put the smoothie bottles in the dishwasher.
One of mine developed a crack when I took it to the gym. I put it down to the dishwasher, and clean the remaining ones I have in warm soapy water.
My smoothie contents today, in the fridge chillaxin'

Re: different types of milk/ drink
I actually looked for this pea milk today, Lush. But it's not in our shop yet.
I've come away with a peanut milk to try.
As your article says tho, stick to coooo's milk if you don't need to avoid it.
But I do like these alternatives. A lot.

Pea milk anyone?
That sounds sort of suspect, despite the spelling.

Indeed, a new name might be required.
