....talking of Sticky Toffee Pudding - has anyone got a tried and tested recipe?
WITHOUT suet in it - unavailable here.

The good news is that the real thing has never contained suet - it’s based on a cake batter

I saw the lady my from Cartmel Village Stores, the motherlode, make it on TV yesterday

Felicity had had a go, and her version looks similar, though I’d omit the nuts which aren’t in the Cartmel version

try these

or
https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/368 ... ee-pudding

while this one is not a toffee pudding it is a great steam pudding and can be adapted to other types

Thanks, Sue & DEB!
I can get hold of most of the ingredients over here, so I´ll give it a go in the next few weeks.

The version in The Cook's Book is very good, if you can get hold of it.

I've made Delia's quite a few times in the past - mostly without the sauce, & 'tis good :thumbsup

Going back to the FullEnglish Breakfast

The Wolseley now has a Mayfair rival at the Guinea Grill, a very foodie pub. Nearly £25 but does sound good

A full English plate does actually cost quite a lot, probably more than people think unltil they tot it up. A lot of cheaper ones charge for all the extras like £1 for a slice of toast, tom or brown sauce, and £n for tea/coffee.

I've always thought FE's invaluable if likely to be spending a day actively in fresh air which always seems to double one's appetite (even for a veggie version).

From the article, I had to look up "lubricious". I loved the quip about there not being an avocado in sight :D

PS: Has anyone ever thought of a glass of claret with a Full English?

I have to say, I hadn't thought of identifying a good breakfast claret previously

I have had a beer with a full English - years ago the only decent food to be had at Gatwick was in the (pre-Wetherspoons) pub, when our flight to Mykonos was vastly delayed we all dashed in and had a full English and a pint, just before the breakfast service stopped at noon
