Capers in tartare sauce , minced with gherkins and spring onions and mixed into mayonnaise with a squeeze of lemon and as mentioned elsewhere a dab of pickle relish

That's reminded me about a recipe we used to make a lot when we still had a fishmonger, Rick Stein's squid with garlic, PARSLEY, courgette and tomatoes. It was from his 1997 "Fruits of the Sea", dedicated to his wife and sons!

Parsley, lots of it, chopped ... with lots of chopped onion and lots of chopped rashers of GREEN* BACON, in a bacon and onion steamed suet pudding, either in a basin or as a Clanger.
