well, I'm impressed. Have just got a very big tub of it from H&Barrett.
Just mix with water and spread on your crackers.

Or add to your favourite smooooooothie in the morning = banana and blueberries.

Or sprinkle on your breakfast.

Or add to your yoghurt.

I won't go back to the sticky kind.

No it doesn't.
It reminds me of the halva you get in Greece, which I had to steer clear of at breakfast. It was so wonderful.

This is a new one on me too - I don't ever eat peanut butter on toast etc. but do use it in satay sauces & hummus - sounds like it would be useful for those times when you need ground peanuts in a recipe & don't have any in!

And not so many calories either...….!

I'll be trying it too! I often buy peanut butter for a specific recipe and then the rest languishes in the cupboard until it's dried and stale so this will save me money. Thanks Gill!

I'm impressed too. I ordered a tub from Amazon and it arrived today so I gave it a road test and was pleasantly surprised. I actually thought it tasted better than some peanut butters that I've had because with less fat (87% less!) the peanut taste was more pronounced. Thanks for the heads up Gill - it's an excellent find.

It's not 87% less fat than ordinary PB - it has a lot less fat than PB but the dry stuff is 13% fat, the ordinary is around 73%, so those numbers don't add up

I suspect someone has finally found a way to make a premium product out of the residue from making groundnut oil

I'll give it a try if I see it, peanut butter is one of the things I don't buy in case I eat it

That makes even less sense to me - to have 85% less calories from fat, surely you simply need 85% less fat? I think it really is that simple!

While it is not completely correct. What they mean is that it contains (100-83)% of the fat that normal peanut butter.

17% of 73 is 0.17 times 73 =12.41.

So that the dried peanut butter would be 12.4% fat. I expect the the stated 13% is as a result of rounding.

I have a sneaking feeling that the blurb is, as so often, actually based on a theoretical portion size - a "serving" of the paste made up with water does contain a lot less fat than a similar looking "serving" of full fat conventional peanut butter

But however you calculate it, my point was that a gram of fat is a gram of fat and the calories from fat will be directly proportional to the amount of fat

But I wasn't disputing that point - I was saying that as it had a lower fat content than "normal" peanut butter, it tasted more of peanuts (imho). I wasn't making any comment about the numbers, just quoting the manufacturer's claim to highlight what my comment was based on.

The numbers seem good to me too.
Decreasing percentage.

I havent got the tub in front of me.
But seeing something online .... 16g fat vs 1.5g fat.
That,s a percentage decrease of just about 90%.

If those fat numbers are the same as we have in our cupboards.
And if you are worried about fat too. Rather good numbers.

I had persuaded myself to splash out £4 to try some of this fab-sounding peanut butter powder, so popped into the in-store Holland & Barrett at Tesco. It wasn't £4 (I now see that was the Sainos price), but £4.67, but I did not buy it because they had the cheek to say it was "half price", and would normally be £9.36. For 180g of PEANUTS? No. Wrong.
