Re: Aeropress!
Hello Ducky.
That really looks worth the effort.
Not sure about those burgers tho. A bit overly fussy.
By the way, where do you buy your replacement paper discs?
I got a good price on Amazon, but you need to spend £20 as part of an Amazon delivery, to get given the price.
It's a complementary order offer.

Re: Aeropress!
I don't use the aeropress anywhere near as much as I did since I bought the pod machine - so easy & quick - yes, I know the aeropress is too & more choice of coffee, but my lazy side has kicked in & since having 'The Bug' I seem to have weirdly gone off coffee a bit...….I'm sure it's only a temporary relapse.....! Fingers crossed!
Re. Shhmokin'……… you really all should get in touch with your Cameron stove top smokers side - great little gizmo - does the business! No fuss.

Re: Aeropress!
I had a power outage and had to get coffee from over the road. OK but not my favourite style. Croissant was good though, will have to find out where they source them
I had to dismantle and clean my coffee grinder this morning, it’s funny, I clean the espresso machine religiously but I tend to forget the grinder until it jams
You can pay a fortune for a burger round here, friend had a £10.50 burger in the pub and it was a huge bun, with a tiny little patty the size of one of those little Birds Eye things they used to give to kids.

Re: Aeropress!
There's a fair deal of fake Aeropress around, so you have to be careful. I used this lot after asking Aeropress to email me a pic of a genuine filter pack. Quite a few on ebay looked dodgy.

I have felt guilty about lack of grinder cleaning too, but as with everything I just leave it till it bites back...
I think the scariest thing about pods is that following the furore about using straws, every single cup of pod coffee uses as much plastic as a handful of straws. But that notwithstanding, it would hurt me to pay around 60p (two 5.5g podsful) for the current 11g of coffee I use per perfect mug which costs me approximately 12p.
£43 a pod, this is just TTP:

Re: Aeropress!
I would worry about those burgers being served pink in the middle, because harmful bacteria which is usually on the outside of beef gets spread throughout the product when minced.

Re: Aeropress!
Thanks Sakkarin. Iv'e saved the link.
Did you know you can get a reusable metal disc? https://www.amazon.co.uk/KOFFI-DISC-Aer ... d_wg=rPFOw
to be used with the inverted method.

Re: Aeropress!
I had one of those metal mesh filters Gill, firstly it didn't fit properly because the "lip" was too thick, and if you did manage to jam it in the coffee "splurged" out of the edges. I will see if I can find it to give it a second chance, maybe it fits better in my newer aeropress, although I think I may have thrown it away
I think it's also an area where there may be a lot of fakes around... £6 for 1p's worth of wire mesh sounds like a good deal for the faker.
I read that it changes the taste as the paper filters retain some of the oils, but I am happy with the paper filter taste, and they are so cheap anyway...

Re: Aeropress!
My metal filter fits fine, but I don’t think it works as well as the paper ones
It’s useful if I run out of paper filters, and I take it to holiday lets as the paper ones can get crumpled in transit
I ordered it with the original Aeropress so I’m sure it’s a real one, not a fake.

Re: Aeropress!
Good God!
The roaster chap in the Sarlat shop was keen to roast his beans whilst they came out hot. I wonder if it grinds better?
Nice one, our Renee.

Re: Aeropress!
Ta Gill. Now I have a long wait ... about a week according to one lot of instructions and 48 hours on another. It makes a big difference to the flavour if you wait.
Re: Aeropress!
I nearly bought these, but cancelled the order. I might get them later.

Re: Aeropress!
yes it's a nice idea to treat yourself with these gadgets.
But I know if it was me, the keenness would wear off.
So you have to wait a while do you. I didn't know that.

Re: Aeropress!
Yes, often these kind of projects are a one-off for me, just to prove to myself I can do it. If you find you can get your perfect roast and it isn't too time consuming it would be great though.
Mind you that coffee shop down the high street here used to be very stinky on some days...

Re: Aeropress!
how was it stinky, Sakkers? (as usually roaster shops smell wonderful)
Re: Aeropress!
I'm hoping it won't be a one-off, because I enjoyed doing it and enjoying the wonderful aromas of the Ethiopan coffee. Also, I've got the time.
