Friends of ours got custody of Martin Shaw's chickens a few years ago, following some domestic rearrangement.

Both Deed and Gently are that irresistible mix of sincerity and rebelliousness. I still see Martin Shaw with his lollipop perm and have visions of his hard-cop persona sitting with perm rollers in reading Women's Weekly ;)

Re Golden Girls, a lot of the humour was in their magically expressive facial asides. I missed last week's lot so look forward to today's (now it's cooked to fast forwarding adverts).

I was intrigued to see how old they were in their first series, and was horrified to realise that they were ALL younger than me.

EDIT: The Golden Girls, I meant...

Martin Shaw (actor) used to live a couple of streets away, some time ago, probably pre-chooks

Bizarrely an entirely different Martin Shaw lives on that road now

Most people seem to like the second version better

Watching the horror of Minneapolis and other parts of the US ... we thought things had changed when a black man was
elected POTUS .., and in response Trump has turned the clock back to the 1960s .... ‘How many times can a man turn his head And pretend that he just doesn’t see?’

Someone (believable) posted on Twitter that at his coeducational religious private school in the US interracial dating was formally banned until 2000. And it took him longer than that to realise it was an odd and utterly unacceptable school rule

From what I’ve come across when meeting folk on USAF bases, from people of all ranks, I can only say that doesn’t surprise me Sue

We use a dog walking service once a week, obviously not during lockdown. They have just started up again. Our dog has gone loopy in delight when he saw O, charging around barking and generally having a whale of a time.

It was lovely to see, in fact it made me a bit teary.

:newhuggy :newhuggy :newhuggy Lovely BB!

Not on the same level, but I came over a bit teary when the local ice-cream van came round the other day. It all felt so normal.

Someone posted this pedometer link elsewhere by which you can measure how far something is on foot via recognised paths, so differs from the "measure distance" on Google maps which shows as the crow flies.

Enter in the location field to get started, then select (click on) a start point then further points:
https://www.mappedometer.com/

In the results box, there's also an "elevation graph" which shows the incline of the route.

I've just read that there have been two hour queues to get to McDonald's DriveThru! There is one next to the Waitrose that I'm going to tomorrow for my Click'nCollect and thank goodness that it isn't open yet!

And it uses the same entrance road too, doesn't it? Will be a nightmare when the McD's opens!

Changing the subject, a bit, OH managed to get a pack of hand sanitiser at Costco today. I think it's the right stuff. It evaporates when used and claims to have 70% ethanol.

Yes, the Carex is the good stuff - the aloe vera one even small ok unlike the pocket sized bubble gum scented one I bought by mistake

I have the same as you bought in Savers last week

I got a couple of tubes of 70% alcohol sanitiser from Waitrose - supplies seem to be getting a bit better.

Carex is my sanitiser of choice, however I have been using one made by our local gin distillery- it’s a liquid rather than a gel and no perfume etc.

For every bottle sold they were matching and giving to local NHS trusts, social care, care homes etc so thought it was a great altruistic move on their part. I am happy to support them, I will also be happy when gin production starts up again.

I am still totally confused re sanitisers and cleansers. During the early stages of the pandemic we were told to use only 70% alcohol hand sanitiser for hands and bleach for cleaning.

I have stuck to this and thankfully managed to get a big bottle of 70% alcohol hand sanitiser very early on which I decant. When I look around see that people are using things that are not labelled as precisely having those ingredients and people talk a lot of spraying bathrooms, shopping etc. I get the feeling they are not just using a home-made bleach solution but are using bought sprays. I know you can get Dettol spray but that's not bleach. Not everyone has enough knowledge of chemistry to understand what is what.

What do those here who are trained in such matters use?
