Re: Chatterbox
You couldn't make it up! Tesco has introduced a maximum number of items per shop. A grandma of 66 was prevented from checking out as her sprouts were counted singly taking her over the limit Not funny for the gran of course. (Widely reported this morning.)

Re: Chatterbox
Unbelievable! They'll be counting frozen peas next.
I've just looked online and it seems they are allowing 95 items per customer with online shopping. That'll go down well at Christmas.

Re: Chatterbox
The Tesco maximum items rule has been in place since the beginning of lockdown, in fact it was a lesser limit in lockdown 1.
To be honest it is a generous limit, when it was 65 items I was shopping weekly for two households and only got caught out once with the limit.
My only whinge is that in an effort to cut down on plastic packaging tins such as beans and tomatoes that were sold in a shrink wrapped four or six are now only sold separately hence counting as four or six items not one.

I haven't come across this in either Asda or Sainsburys. Toilet rolls were rationed of course at one time.

Re: Chatterbox
Christmas tree is up and lit.
I keep waiting for the top set of lights to reduce in John Lewis, but they sell out before that happens.
I could arrange the 2 sets differently I guess, but it looks fine.
The advantage of living in the country is 7ft Christmas trees at local farms cost £30. Some are even cheaper if they have a gap somewhere.

Gill - People have been asking this on another thread but I don't know if you'd have seen it.
Do you know if Sakkarin is OK - he hasn't posted for ages (Nov 6, I believe) so people are worrying about him.
Do you have any news?

Morning, Rainbow. And thanks for the nod.
No need to worry about Sakkarin's health, we've heard from him and he's fine. I'll go look for the other messages ....

Thanks Gill ... that’s good to know ... I think we all get a little anxious nowadays when folk are unusually quiet ...
Re: Chatterbox
Good to hear about Sakks, thank you.

Yup.
Re: Chatterbox
Here's a strange question for you, as I have not a clue.
I posted a picture on my local facebook page with a picture of my just decorated Christmas cake.
Lots of people commented on it & where I can I try to answer any questions.
The one that has me beat is a lady who asked "how many pennies"
I do not have a clue what she is on about, any ideas, am I missing something
I feel embarrassed to ask her

Could she mean 'how much did it cost to make'?

Re: Chatterbox
You could go on guessing all night. She could mean how much did it cost to make, how much would you sell it for, are there pennies in it like sixpences in Christmas pud or she might just be the local nutter. Maybe she wants to buy it for £3.

I would have guessed she meant 6 pennies in the Christmas pudding.
You could reply a one liner sixpennies? And leave it at that.
