Weekend Brunching
Brunch is quite a popular trend for us here on The Iberian Peninsula,
outside of the Hotels. Bars, Bistros and Creperies are cashing in on weekend
Brunch cartes.
What are your favorites ?
We enjoy:
Smoked Salmon or Gravlax
Eggs Benedict with fresh red tomato or Smoked Salmon (we do not eat bacon)
Shellfish of any kind
Salad Niçoise
Salad Caprese
Poached Eggs with Boletus & Tuffles ( The Arzak Style )
Crepes Suzette
Have a lovely Sunday.

Re: Weekend Brunching
Brunch is a big thing in London, and specially in my area, Stoke Newington and nearby Dalston (hipster central) and Islington
The three essentials seem to be sourdough toast, smashed avocado and poached eggs. Personally I don’t really like the combination of runny egg yolk and creamy avocado though I like them both separately. Other frequent elements are smoked salmon, crispy bacon and halloumi cheese. Bagels with various fillings are popular as are variations on shakshuka - eggs cooked nestled in tomatoes and other ingredients.
On Sundays, Bloody Mary cocktails or Bellinis are popular
For a while the most fashionable brunch in London was The Good Egg, an Israeli restaurant on Stoke Newington Church Street, I still haven’t been as I can’t be bothered to queue for eggs! I think the newer branch in Soho is now a little more “in”
Here’s the brunch menu

But I found a good looking brunch cafe yesterday, also less than 10 minutes walk from me, and I intend to try it soon. Their website is horrible, but if you can actually read the menu it is the epitome of hipster chic

And of course Joe Allen has been selling American brunches near the Strand for over 50 years, never been out of fashion, used to go their in the 80s

Re: Weekend Brunching
I rather like the menu at the Brunswick East, Sue!
MORNING PORRIDGE (GF)
Congee style. Chicken & ginger broth savoury rice porridge, served with glazed chicken & boiled egg. Healthy, healing and delicous £9.50
I sometimes had that in Taiwan and really enjoyed it. It didn't look very appetising though, but tasted good!

Just noticed that the link to the Good Egg doesn’t work because it’s a pdf
Here’s the relevant web page

And Joe Allen’s for comparison

Re: Weekend Brunching
Sue,
Appreciate all the links.
Thank you.
If we ever travel over to London again,
we shall definitely go to Joe Allen´s.
Truly like the atmosphere & interior design.
Resembles the Joe Allen´s in Manhattan quite a bit.
The key is, they have Eggs Benedict with Smoked
Salmon or Spinach with Hollandaise !
Have a nice day.
