I could have written that word for word Patsy - I got so that I didn't like her in DL at all - she seemed a parody of herself.

Sorry to correct you Pat but Dinnerladies was filmed in front of live audiences.

I think she’s a great actress but I’m a big fan. The biography that Jasper Rees wrote is very good indeed but it does show another side to her. She was quite clearly a bit difficult to live and work with.

I'm watching the second of the Marcus Wareing programmes. My opinion about being a bit sanitised hasn't changed. He's just brought a tray of veg to the BBQ 'straight from the garden'. Pristine leeks, gleaming lettuce - not a trace of mud or a slug anywhere - amazing .

The sun's always shining, for a start!
I think having a kitchen garden (with a gardener!), an orchard, and renting out your pastures isn't real farming, anyway. However, I do think Marcus seems very relaxed and looks as if he's enjoying his new lifestyle.

Sorry, but nothing would convince me that they didn't record those shows with canned laughter, but having sat in on live recordings of comedy shows, the audience does get 'conducted' as to when to laugh and it is very obvious that the cast learn to say their lines with a pause after every sentence
I do though think she is a genius at extracting such a funny side of human nature and characters

We've been watching Stanley Tucci's Searching for Italy programmes - really great, and tonight OH made cacio e pepe from the Rome episode. We didn't like the look of the recipe we found that seemed to be related to the programme, so made Claudia Roden's instead, with the 70% pecorino and 30% parmesan the Roman chef said was the "secret" of his personal recipe.
Totally delicious!!

Sounds lovely, KC2. I've saved the programmes but not watched any yet. The snippets I've seen look very enjoyable.
We seem to have gone away from canned laughter - and the pause for it - in the UK for quite a while. Very noticeable if you watch American comedy programmes. I have to be honest and say I don't watch much of either these days, Dinnerladies wasn't one that I liked much.

Haven't seen Donal on Saturday Kitchen for a while. I suppose Covid?
Did anyone watch Cook, Eat, Repeat on BBC2 last night? Nigella was making Fish Finger Bhorta which people absoultely rave about on Twitter. I'm still not convinced. She also did the cooked banana skin thing.

Yes, it was a repeat so I didn't bother. Neither of those really appeal to me TBH.

Donal was in California then Ireland so no, couldn’t get to SK during Covid
Fish finger bhorta is really nice, I think the excitement is more about doing what looks like rough student cooking and ending up with a proper Asian dinner you could reasonably share with someone than a massive wow factor. I should make it again.

I decided that maybe we know which is the cake but contestants don't? I haven't got Netflix anyway. So clever to make such realistic cake though.
