Re: TV and Online Cooking Shows
I saw the Mary Berry programme the other evening. I quite enjoyed it as those kind of programmes go.
No spoilers please as I expect others will watch at a later date but I thought the Great British Banquet tonight was amazing. The best ever.

I accidentally caught the end of that and might watch the rest
I used to really dislike Fred - I thought he was what in my youth we called TSTM - too smooth to move - a bit lounge lizard and overly self confident but he is growing on me

Re: TV and Online Cooking Shows
Not cooking but I know that a number of members are fans of The Great Pottery Throwdown. It is being trailed on C4 having previously been on BBC.
Re: TV and Online Cooking Shows
i may be wrong but i think the last series, at least, has been on channel 4. it's made by the same production company (love) that the bake-off is made and was removed from the beeb at the same time as that.
thankfully they didn't have the sewing bee!
ps - the 'throw down' could definitely be classed as a cooking programme!

Jamie and Jimmie's Friday night feast
The latest series of cafe dining and guests. I don't know why I mention this as we seem to be a pretty smart group but this series was filmed in 2019. Like we can't figure that out for ourselves...,..,
Friday nites at 800pm London time on channel 4

This is Rick Stein’s Cornwall, seems to be brand new and is on at 18.30 each evening on BBC 2 starting on Monday, 12 episodes
Given how little new content the BBC have at the moment it’s a surprisingly low key roll out which may not bode well, worth a try, not just food more about the area
I meant to watch the cider one, might look at it on catch up

Quite a selection there Mark! Rick Stein is the only one that has any appeal for me.
Sue, I feel that several new and more interesting programmes have been hidden amongst the trash lately. Odd.

Yes, I like Hannah Fry
Worryingly high number of comedians though, hope they aren't too determined to play it for laughs - and is Sarah Pascoe now obligatory in all TV programmes other than the weather forecast?

Well I enjoyed the Horizon
The cheese made me go a bit but in practice I probably eat less than a kilogram of Parmesan a year, but if having a roast dinner could eat a kilogram of red meat in a week

Re: TV and Online Cooking Shows
I thought it was fairly good. It would have been nice to have been given a little more time to read the menus!
Nothing really groundbreaking but it seems timely to remind those thinking of a more plant based diet that the carbon footprint can be very high if the plants have been flown halfway round the world. I wonder how many people young enough to have grown up with groaning fruit & veg shelves in supermarkets or ethnic shops actually stop to think of it at all?
Very sad about cheese of course.
Edited to say I did think the ways they were extracting protein to feed fish etc was interesting.
