Will we need a GBBO thread?

I'm not going to watch this time. It's so far removed from the original I'm tired of it.

I agree Em, but I’m sure I will get sucked in! I adored the early series, probably up to Nadia winning, later ones not so much, but it’s easy autumnal viewing.

It, and Strictly mark the beginning of the road to Christmas! Which, whilst we all poo poo it getting earlier and earlier I will be glad to see, even if it’s just to say goodbye to 2020!

The last series was only notable for the fact that they were all young. I quite like silly old women like me having a go. I think they thought the Love Island approach would work. It didn’t.

Garam Masala in Toad in the Hole? Hmmm.

Last night Harry Hill's World of TV "How To Make Your Own Cookery Programme" was rather fun.

Just watched the Harry Hill

Trip down memory lane...

I think I’d seen nearly all of those series except for some reason Farmhouse Kitchenwhich rings no bells at all

Missed out the growing field of exotic cooking - not just Madhur a d her well browned onions but also Ken Homm and the Hot Wom

Farmhouse Kitchen was a Yorkshire Television production, Dorothy Sleighthome the presenter. Why I can remember that I’m not sure.

My Mum has at least one of the cookbooks, I can visualise it on the bookshelf. I remember the series fondly, although I’m not sure how well it would have aged.

That’s what I thought, as I’ve seen Dorothy Sleightholme’s name on books, but the presenter in most of the clips was Grace Mulligan, who I’d never encountered

Loved the Harry Hill. I remember Farmhouse Kitchen with Dorothy Sleightholme in the mid 70s. I was surprised to see, on looking it up that the programme went on for years with later presenters and styles. I think it was on round about lunchtime and intermingled with children's programmes which we had on. It was good, traditional cooking, I loved it. I expect you watched it in between the children's programmes BB!

Funny you mention Ken Hom and Madhur, Sue. I don't ever remember watching them when they were in their prime.

Good grief - I popped into WH Smith to check out the cookery books, something I rarely do these days, and smiled when I saw that 36 years on, Ken Hom still has a book there.

However I did a huge double take when I saw whose book was beside it! I remember Lizzie pooh-pooing me when I suggested on the Beeb Board maybe 12 years ago that blogs were a source of income...
