Yes, but have you seen the price of all these new gins? Aldi's gin won an International Gold recently, so that will do for me!

My favourite gin brand is Bombay Sapphire, with Star of Bombay being my favourite.

I got some Tanqueray 10on offer in Sainsbury’s last week. About £26 Per bottle, standard Tanqueray also on offer £24 per litre so the 10 is definitely for best as that’s about £37 per litre, bit of a difference

I was lucky enough to be passing through an airport when 10 was launched, I got a generous taster and a full litre at a discounted price, loved it dice. Standard Tanqueray is pretty good too

Currently drinking a vodka and tonic.

Haven't had vodka for years but a visiting pal, whose tipple is vodka, left an inch in the bottle.
That was in July and I'm fed up of it occupying space in my cupboard.

Underwhelming.

WWordsworth, I bought a bottle of Russian Standard vodka just after I got my cocktail book, it was on a good offer and I thought I’d find many uses for it

It has been in the wine rack ever since, I still haven’t finished the previous bottle

I’m pretty sure it cost £8 so sometime I’ll use it to make a liqueur

I just find it tasteless.
Give me a Tanqueray any day.

i have just tried some 'chocolate gin' that came in one of the chocolate club boxes a couple of months ago - i'm wondering if they accidentally filled the miniature bottles with hand sanitiser alcohol!

I'm not really keen on flavoured gins to be honest, the rhubarb and berry flavoured ones all seem to have a sweet edge that I'm not fond of. I do have the Tanqueray Sevilla and the Malfi Limon gin, both are nice enough. I've got about 9 gins on the go at the moment, I opened bottles of Brecon gin and Hrafn gin last week whilst we were on staycation, both were good, especially the Brecon which isn't even expensive!

If I want a 'glugging' gin then I must admit I'm quite partial to Larios and Lidl's Hortus gin, and I'll use the those for cocktails too. If I want a serious sipping gin then for me it tends to be Hendricks or Bathtub.

I have probably mentioned it before but Aldi Harrison gin is a good replica of Hendrick's.

Their Persian lime and orange gin is quite acceptable too.

I bought some cucumber and mint tonic from Aldi, having enjoyed some of their other stuff.

Weird, it was like drinking a roast dinner.
Won't be repeating it.

My brother-in-law has just given me a bottle of 10 year old Edradour un-chillfiltered single malt. I'm about to try a glass. I finished the bottle of 1981 Ravignan Armagnac last night. :wino :cocktail: :cocktail:

  No doubt!

I bought some interesting mixer drinks in Asda today. Merchant's Heart Hibiscus. They did have other flavours. I probably won't buy them again because I already like the botanicals used in the gins. I was just tempted!

I can't join in with the alcohol talk but the comment on Aldi's contribution to the growing alcohol free 'grown up' drink market made me laugh:

I really like the Three Spirit drinks, but they are fiendisly expensive and must be very calorific. They are very gingery and I did wonder if a very concentrated ginger syrup cordial would almost do the trick, but no... Husband bought me the whole set for my birthday. I am trying to eek it out.

Fascinating - do you drink the "gin" with eg tonic, and a slice of lime in the normal way?

Hilarious, Herbi! A case of The Emperor's New Clothes' methinks!

Horrified at the price of the non-alcoholic drinks. I don't often buy my favourite alcoholic drinks because the price puts me off but really!

I really like the Cloudwater soda featured in the article. We got a few free at an event we went to at their brewery last year and now I buy them from time to time. Usually to take me over free delivery on beer
